The Performance of Wearable AI in Detecting Stress Among Students: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Students usually encounter stress throughout their academic path. Ongoing stressors may lead to chronic stress, adversely affecting their physical and mental well-being. Thus, early detection and monitoring of stress among students are crucial. Wearable artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a valuable tool for this purpose. It offers an objective, noninvasive, nonobtrusive, automated approach to continuously monitor biomarkers in real time, thereby addressing the limitations of traditional approaches such as self-reported questionnaires. OBJECTIVE: This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to assess the performance of wearable AI in detecting and predicting stress among students. METHODS: Search sources in this review included 7 electronic databases (MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, ACM Digital Library, Scopus, IEEE Xplore, and Google Scholar). We also checked the reference lists of the included studies and checked studies that cited the included studies. The search was conducted on June 12, 2023. This review included research articles centered on the creation or application of AI algorithms for the detection or prediction of stress among students using data from wearable devices. In total, 2 independent reviewers performed study selection, data extraction, and risk-of-bias assessment. The Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-Revised tool was adapted and used to examine the risk of bias in the included studies. Evidence synthesis was conducted using narrative and statistical techniques. RESULTS: This review included 5.8% (19/327) of the studies retrieved from the search sources. A meta-analysis of 37 accuracy estimates derived from 32% (6/19) of the studies revealed a pooled mean accuracy of 0.856 (95% CI 0.70-0.93). Subgroup analyses demonstrated that the accuracy of wearable AI was moderated by the number of stress classes (P=.02), type of wearable device (P=.049), location of the wearable device (P=.02), data set size (P=.009), and ground truth (P=.001). The average estimates of sensitivity, specificity, and F1-score were 0.755 (SD 0.181), 0.744 (SD 0.147), and 0.759 (SD 0.139), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Wearable AI shows promise in detecting student stress but currently has suboptimal performance. The results of the subgroup analyses should be carefully interpreted given that many of these findings may be due to other confounding factors rather than the underlying grouping characteristics. Thus, wearable AI should be used alongside other assessments (eg, clinical questionnaires) until further evidence is available. Future research should explore the ability of wearable AI to differentiate types of stress, distinguish stress from other mental health issues, predict future occurrences of stress, consider factors such as the placement of the wearable device and the methods used to assess the ground truth, and report detailed results to facilitate the conduct of meta-analyses. Práticas adotadas pelas equipes de saúde bucal na estratégia saúde da família: uma revisão da literatura / Practices adopted by oral health teams in the family health strategy: a literature review / Prácticas adoptadas por los equipos de salud bucal en la estrategia de salud de la familia: una revisión de la literatura

A inserção da Odontologia no Sistema Único de Saúde, como estratégia de transformação da prática, introduziu novas formas de organização na busca pela melhoria das condições de saúde bucal da população. O objetivo do trabalho foi identificar práticas adotadas pela Equipe de Saúde Bucal na prevenção e promoção da saúde bucal das co- munidades assistidas pela Estratégia Saúde da Família. Trata-se de uma revisão de litera- tura, com uma busca sistematizada nas bases de dados Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde e Scielo, utilizando os descritores: programa saúde da família, estratégia saúde da família, saúde bucal e odontologia. Os critérios de inclusão foram: estudos qualitativos, surveys e mistos, que abordem práticas adotadas pela Equipe de Saúde Bucal da Estratégia Saúde da Família, na prevenção e promoção da saúde bucal. A busca resultou em 435 estudos, após remoção das duplicatas, leitura de títulos, resumos e verificação dos critérios de inclusão foram incluídos 18 artigos. As práticas identificadas foram: educação em saúde, visita domiciliar, humanização do cuidado, educação permanente em saúde e intersetori- alidade. Os resultados mostraram que as práticas de prevenção e promoção de saúde ado- tadas pela Equipe de Saúde Bucal da Estratégia Saúde da Família foram viáveis, uma vez que emergiram de estratégias difundidas pelas políticas públicas, evidenciando a indisso- ciabilidade entre saúde bucal e saúde geral dos usuários e comunidades, contribuindo no processo de consolidação do Sistema Único de Saúde.

The inclusion of Dentistry in the Unified Health System, as a practice transformation strategy, introduced new forms of organization in the quest to improve the oral health conditions of the population. The objective of this work was to identify prac- tices adopted by the Oral Health Team in the prevention and promotion of oral health in communities assisted by the Family Health Strategy. This is a literature review, with a systematic search, in the Virtual Health Library and Scielo databases, using the descrip- tors: family health program, family health strategy, oral health and dentistry. The inclu- sion criteria were: qualitative studies, surveys and mixed, which address practices adop- ted by the Oral Health Team of the Family Health Strategy, in the prevention and promo- tion of oral health. The search resulted in 435 studies, after removing duplicates, reading titles, abstracts and checking the inclusion criteria, 18 articles were included. The identi- fied practices were: health education, home visits, humanization of care, permanent health education and intersectoriality. The results showed that the prevention and health promo- tion practices adopted by the Oral Health Team of the Family Health Strategy were viable, since they emerged from strategies disseminated by public policies, evidencing the inse- parability between oral health and the general health of users and communities , contri- buting to the consolidation process of the Unified Health System.

La inclusión de la Odontología en el Sistema Único de Salud, como estra- tegia de transformación de la práctica, introdujo nuevas formas de organización en la búsqueda de mejorar las condiciones de salud bucal de la población. El objetivo de este trabajo fue identificar las prácticas adoptadas por el Equipo de Salud Bucal en la preven- ción y promoción de la salud bucal en las comunidades asistidas por la Estrategia Salud de la Familia. Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica, con búsqueda sistemática, en la Bi- blioteca Virtual en Salud y en las bases de datos Scielo, utilizando los descriptores: pro- grama de salud familiar, estrategia de salud familiar, salud bucal y odontología. Los cri- terios de inclusión fueron: estudios cualitativos, encuestas y mixtos, que aborden las prác- ticas adoptadas por el Equipo de Salud Bucal de la Estrategia Salud de la Familia, en la prevención y promoción de la salud bucal. La búsqueda resultó en 435 estudios, luego de eliminar duplicados, leer títulos, resúmenes y verificar los criterios de inclusión, se inclu- yeron 18 artículos. Las prácticas identificadas fueron: educación en salud, visitas domi- ciliarias, humanización del cuidado, educación permanente en salud e intersectorialidad. Los resultados mostraron que las prácticas de prevención y promoción de la salud adop- tadas por el Equipo de Salud Bucal de la Estrategia Salud de la Familia fueron viables, ya que surgieron de estrategias difundidas por las políticas públicas, evidenciando la in- separabilidad entre la salud bucal y la salud general de los usuarios y comunidades, con- tribuyendo al proceso de consolidación del Sistema Único de Salud.

Os efeitos da pandemia no bem-estar dos enfermeiros brasileiros no combate ao Covid-19: uma revisão de escopo / The effects of the pandemic on the well-being of brazilian nurses in the fight against Covid-19: a scoping review / Los efectos de la pandemia en el bienestar de las enfermeras brasileñas en la lucha contra el Covid-19: a scoping review

Introdução: Estudos indicam que os profissionais de saúde têm alto risco de desenvolver sintomas relacionados à saúde mental, especialmente depressão, ansiedade e estresse. Objetivo: identificar e sintetizar os estudos sobre os preditores relacionados a saúde mental entre enfermeiros que atuam na linha de frente no combate ao COVID- 19. Método: Trata-se de uma revisão de escopo, sem limitação de linguagem e ano, nas bases BVS, PubMed, SCIELO, CINAHL, SCOPUS, Web of Science, MedNar, CAPES e ProQuest. Foi realizada síntese narrativa. Resultados: A pandemia da COVID-19 trouxe sérios impactos a saúde mental dos profissionais de enfermagem, os achados revelaram cinco temas principais sentimento de insegurança, falta de equipamentos de proteção individual, falta de exames diagnósticos, mudanças no fluxo de atendimento e medo do desconhecido. Existe uma associação significativa entre o bem-estar físico e metal e a produtividade laboral. Conclusão: Destaca-se os desafios enfrentados pelos enfermeiros no combate da COVID-19, mesmo com a repercussões no ambiente de trabalho os enfermeiros ainda padecem de reconhecimento adequado que incluem situações de estresse, ansiedade, depressão e estão diretamente relacionadas à frustração, esgotamento físico e mental, sentimento de impotência e insegurança profissional vivenciados durante a pandemia, principalmente por jovens profissionais sem experiência no cuidado de pacientes críticos.

Introduction: Studies indicate that health professionals are at high risk of developing symptoms related to mental health, especially depression, anxiety and stress. Objective: identify and synthesize studies on mental health-related predictors among nurses who work on the front line in the fight against COVID-19. Method: This is a scope review, without language and year limitations, in the VHL, PubMed, SCIELO, CINAHL, SCOPUS, Web of Science, MedNar, CAPES and ProQuest databases. Narrative synthesis was performed. Results: The COVID-19 pandemic had serious impacts on the mental health of nursing professionals, the findings revealed five main themes: feeling of insecurity, lack of personal protective equipment, lack of diagnostic tests, changes in the flow of care and fear of the unknown. There is a significant association between physical and mental well-being and labor productivity. Conclusion: The challenges faced by nurses in the fight against COVID-19 are highlighted, even with the repercussions in the work environment, nurses still suffer from adequate recognition and include situations of stress, anxiety and even depression, which are directly related to frustration , physical and mental exhaustion, feeling of helplessness and professional insecurity experienced during the pandemic, especially by young professionals with no experience in caring for critically ill patients.

Introducción: Los estudios indican que los profesionales de la salud tienen un alto riesgo de desarrollar síntomas relacionados con la salud mental, especialmente depresión, ansiedad y estrés. Objetivo: identificar y sintetizar estudios sobre predictores relacionados a la salud mental entre enfermeros que trabajan en primera línea en la lucha contra el COVID-19. Método: Se trata de una revisión de alcance, sin limitaciones de idioma y año, en las bases de datos BVS, PubMed, SCIELO, CINAHL, SCOPUS, Web of Science, MedNar, CAPES y ProQuest. Se realizó una síntesis narrativa. Resultados: La pandemia de COVID-19 tuvo graves impactos en la salud mental de los profesionales de enfermería, los hallazgos revelaron cinco temas principales: sensación de inseguridad, falta de equipo de protección personal, falta de pruebas diagnósticas, cambios en el flujo de atención y miedo a lo desconocido. Existe una asociación significativa entre el bienestar físico y mental y la productividad laboral. Conclusiones: Se destacan los retos a los que se enfrentan las enfermeras en la lucha contra la COVID-19, aún con las repercusiones en el ámbito laboral, las enfermeras siguen sufriendo un reconocimiento adecuado e incluyen situaciones de estrés, ansiedad e incluso depresión, que están directamente relacionadas con la frustración , el agotamiento físico y mental, la sensación de impotencia y la inseguridad profesional experimentada durante la pandemia, especialmente por profesionales jóvenes sin experiencia en el cuidado de pacientes críticos.

Uso de la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud de Cuba en Villa Clara / Use of the Cuban Virtual Health Library in Villa Clara

En la actualidad la capacidad de distinguir cuáles son las fuentes que brindan una información confiable es la herramienta más importante para los investigadores. Por tanto, es necesario profundizar en el uso de fuentes de información veraz y actualizada, y la importancia de evaluarlas. Esta problemática toma mayor fuerza en el área de la salud, por lo que las instituciones en cuestión, se han proyectado en este tipo de estudio. Tal es el caso del Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara, que se propuso evaluar el uso de la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud de Cuba por los bibliotecarios de la red de bibliotecas médicas de la provincia, cuyo objetivo fundamental es satisfacer las necesidades de sus usuarios.

Currently, the ability to distinguish which sources provide reliable information is the most important tool for researchers. Therefore, it is necessary to deepen the use of truthful and updated information sources, and the importance of evaluating them. This problem takes greater importance in the health area, that is why the institutions in question have been projected in this type of study. Such is the case of the Provincial Information Center for Medical Sciences from Villa Clara, which proposed to evaluate the use of the Cuban Virtual Health Library by the librarians of the network of medical libraries in the province, whose fundamental objective is to satisfy the needs of its users.

Integrating Reaction Schemes, Reagent Databases, and Virtual Libraries into Fragment-Based Design by Reinforcement Learning.

Lead optimization supported by artificial intelligence (AI)-based generative models has become increasingly important in drug design. Success factors are reagent availability, novelty, and the optimization of multiple properties. Directed fragment-replacement is particularly attractive, as it mimics medicinal chemistry tactics. Here, we present variations of fragment-based reinforcement learning using an actor-critic model. Novel features include freezing fragments and using reagents as the fragment source. Splitting molecules according to reaction schemes improves synthesizability, while tuning network output probabilities allows us to balance novelty versus diversity. Combining fragment-based optimization with virtual library encodings allows the exploration of large chemical spaces with synthesizable ideas. Collectively, these enhancements influence design toward high-quality molecules with favorable profiles. A validation study using 15 pharmaceutically relevant targets reveals that novel structures are obtained for most cases, which are identical or related to independent validation sets for each target. Hence, these modifications significantly increase the value of fragment-based reinforcement learning for drug design. SMiPoly: Generation of a Synthesizable Polymer Virtual Library Using Rule-Based Polymerization Reactions.

Recent advances in machine learning have led to the rapid adoption of various computational methods for de novo molecular design in polymer research, including high-throughput virtual screening and inverse molecular design. In such workflows, molecular generators play an essential role in creation or sequential modification of candidate polymer structures. Machine learning-assisted molecular design has made great technical progress over the past few years. However, the difficulty of identifying synthetic routes to such designed polymers remains unresolved. To address this technical limitation, we present Small Molecules into Polymers (SMiPoly), a Python library for virtual polymer generation that implements 22 chemical rules for commonly applied polymerization reactions. For given small organic molecules to form a candidate monomer set, the SMiPoly generator conducts possible polymerization reactions to generate an exhaustive list of potentially synthesizable polymers. In this study, using 1083 readily available monomers, we generated 169,347 unique polymers forming seven different molecular types: polyolefin, polyester, polyether, polyamide, polyimide, polyurethane, and polyoxazolidone. By comparing the distribution of the virtually created polymers with approximately 16,000 real polymers synthesized so far, it was found that the coverage and novelty of the SMiPoly-generated polymers can reach 48 and 53%, respectively. Incorporating the SMiPoly library into a molecular design workflow will accelerate the process of de novo polymer synthesis by shortening the step to select synthesizable candidate polymers.

Visando atender aos preceitos desta normativa, a Secretaria de Estado da Saúde de São Paulo, por meio da Coordenadoria de Ciência, Tecnologia e Insumos Estratégicos de Saúde deu início, em 2008, à coordenação do processo e desenvolvimento de ações específicas voltadas à incorporação e gestão da inovação na área da saúde, no âmbito da instituição.

Using technology to promote the development of health science libraries in China.

From the point of view of the development of libraries, technology has made possible the emergence and development of library automation; digital libraries; mobile libraries; and smart libraries. This article briefly describes the impact of technological developments and application in Health Science Libraries in China in relation to collections development, service provision and the role of library associations.

Modeling the expansion of virtual screening libraries.

Recently, 'tangible' virtual libraries have made billions of molecules readily available. Prioritizing these molecules for synthesis and testing demands computational approaches, such as docking. Their success may depend on library diversity, their similarity to bio-like molecules and how receptor fit and artifacts change with library size. We compared a library of 3 million 'in-stock' molecules with billion-plus tangible libraries. The bias toward bio-like molecules in the tangible library decreases 19,000-fold versus those 'in-stock'. Similarly, thousands of high-ranking molecules, including experimental actives, from five ultra-large-library docking campaigns are also dissimilar to bio-like molecules. Meanwhile, better-fitting molecules are found as the library grows, with the score improving log-linearly with library size. Finally, as library size increases, so too do rare molecules that rank artifactually well. Although the nature of these artifacts changes from target to target, the expectation of their occurrence does not, and simple strategies can minimize their impact.

A live programada terá como objetivos apresentar as mudanças e atualizações no portal da BVS Homeopatia e o novo sistema da Biblioteca da APH (gnuteca) visando a integração de bibliotecas de outras federadas e o fortalecimento, divulgação e representação do conhecimento nacional de informação em homeopatia no Brasil. Também será apresentado o projeto de construção dessa rede de contribuição integrada de bibliotecas junto com as Federadas

Enhanced Identification of Ginsenosides Simultaneously from Seven Panax Herbal Extracts by Data-Dependent Acquisition Including a Preferred Precursor Ions List Derived from an In-House Programmed Virtual Library.

Data-dependent acquisition (DDA) is widely utilized for metabolite identification in natural product research and food science, which, however, can suffer from low coverage. A potential solution to improve DDA coverage is to include the precursor ions list (PIL). Here, we aimed to construct a PIL-containing DDA strategy based on an in-house library of ginsenosides (VLG) and identify ginsenosides simultaneously from seven Panax herbal extracts. VLG, combined with mass defect filtering, could efficiently screen the ginsenoside precursors and elaborate the separate PIL involved in DDA for each ginseng extract. Consequently, we could characterize 500 ginsenosides, including 176 ones with unknown masses. Using the Panax ginseng extract, the superiority of this strategy was embodied in targeting more known ginsenoside masses and newly acquiring the MS2 spectra of 13 components. Conclusively, knowledge-based large-scale molecular prediction and PIL-DDA can represent a powerful targeted/untargeted strategy beneficial to novel natural compound discovery.

A virtual library for behavioral performance in standard conditions-rodent spontaneous activity in an open field during repeated testing and after treatment with drugs or brain lesions.

BACKGROUND: Beyond their specific experiment, video records of behavior have future value-for example, as inputs for new experiments or for yet unknown types of analysis of behavior-similar to tissue or blood sample banks in life sciences where clinically derived or otherwise well-described experimental samples are stored to be available for some unknown potential future purpose. FINDINGS: Research using an animal model of obsessive-compulsive disorder employed a standardized paradigm where the behavior of rats in a large open field was video recorded for 55 minutes on each test. From 43 experiments, there are 19,976 such trials that amount to over 2 years of continuous recording. In addition to videos, there are 2 video-derived raw data objects: XY locomotion coordinates and plots of animal trajectory. To motivate future use, the 3 raw data objects are annotated with a general schema-one that abstracts the data records from their particular experiment while providing, at the same time, a detailed list of independent variables bearing on behavioral performance. The raw data objects are deposited as 43 datasets but constitute, functionally, a library containing 1 large dataset. CONCLUSIONS: Size and annotation schema give the library high reuse potential: in applications using machine learning techniques, statistical evaluation of subtle factors, simulation of new experiments, or as educational resource. Ultimately, the library can serve both as the seed and as the test bed to create a machine-searchable virtual library of linked open datasets for behavioral performance in defined conditions.
